VASCULAR LABORATORY TESTING IN THE VEIN CENTER
Vascular testing with ultrasound is critical to determine the cause of vein problems. The beauty of these tests is that the ultrasound is completely safe and painless. In addition, modern ultrasound by an expert ultrasonographer is very accurate. Dr. Kingsley has assured the very best quality in both ultrasound machines and ultrasound technologist, for these tests are the backbone of the vein specialty practice. In addition, Dr. Kingsley and Dr. Isobe are both Registered Vascular Technologists themselves, meaning they also have expert credentials to evaluate the ultrasound examinations. |

The Examiners
Zeke Eldridge, BSRT, RDMS, RVT, joined the Alabama Vascular and Vein Center in 2006. He is the primary ultrasound expert and examiner for the Center. Zeke has many years experience in vascular and vein ultrasound examinations, he knows every textbook and every non-textbook nuance of vein ultrasound. He also is highly credentialed as a vascular ultrasound technologist. His examinations are accurate, and his conclusions are designed to determine the cause of each patient’s clinical problem. Dr. Kingsley and the physician staff have full confidence in Zeke’s ultrasound studies, and use these studies to make critical decisions about each patient. |

Dr. Kingsley began the study and performance of vascular ultrasound in the 1980’s. He and Dr. Isobe are among only a limited number of surgeons who have studied vascular ultrasound to become proficient in the technology. Both are Registered Vascular Technologists, having completed the requirements and examinations of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The physicians of Alabama Vascular & Vein Center are all experts in the assessment of patients with vein disorders, using ultrasound as a critical part of the evaluation.

The Vascular Tests
|
All of the vascular and vein testing is non-invasive, meaning there is no pain associated with the examination. Most tests require only a few minutes to complete. The ultrasound image allows an assessment of both the anatomy and the blood flow physiology. Any abnormal vein is detected and identified.
Vein Ultrasound Testing
Duplex ultrasound allows an accurate examination of leg veins including both the anatomy and blood flow physiology. Blood clots are detected, vein valve abnormalities are identified including the location of these valves. The size of the veins is measured, blood flow is analyzed including regurgitation of blood through the valves. All abnormal veins and all normal veins are identified. Ultrasound assessment is very accurate, and is the reason the diagnosis and treatment of vein problems progressed to a sophisticated science in 2007 and beyond.
